101 identifiers in this collection. Every row reads Supports analog from the catalogue at build time — the same value the identifier page carries. A value the source document does not confirm is shown as unconfirmed rather than omitted.

What this page does not do

This page explains how the decision is made. It does not quote a list price, a stock quantity or a coverage result, because the site does not hold one it can evidence. Anything shown as unconfirmed on the catalogue pages is unconfirmed here too.

Confirm the position with your regulator, your site authority or your freight forwarder before you commit to an order.

When analog is the right answer

  • Group voice is the whole requirement — no individual calling, no text, no location trail.
  • The fleet is large and the per-handset budget matters more than the feature set.
  • Operator turnover is high and the channel plan has to be learnable in a shift.
  • An existing analog fleet is mid-life, and adding a small number of handsets to it is cheaper than replacing it.

What analog cannot be asked to do

Requirements analog cannot supply
RequirementWhy analog cannot supply it
Private or individual callsEveryone on the channel hears all traffic. There is no addressing to call one handset.
Text, work orders, check-in logsThere is no data channel to carry them.
Handset location reportingThere is no return path from the handset to a control room.
Auditable trafficTraffic exists as audio only, so nothing is logged by the system.

The failure mode to watch for

An analog fleet is usually replaced early because a control room asked for check-in logs or a location trail. If either is on your roadmap, the migration is a design decision to take now rather than a purchase decision to take later.

Staging a changeover

A staged changeover is possible because most digital radios also operate in analog mode, so a mixed fleet can run while equipment is replaced in batches. Confirm that mode support per ordering code — it is a build property, not a family property — and confirm that the channel plan works on both halves of the fleet for the duration.

Not covered here

  • Any claim that a protocol is being withdrawn. This site publishes no withdrawal claim, because it holds no evidence for one.
  • Coverage design, repeater sizing or antenna selection.
  • Cost comparison against a digital fleet.

What to put in the first message

Every one of these removes a round trip. The enquiry page composes a brief containing them; you send it from your own mail or messaging app.

  • Destination country — this decides the approved variant and the marking.
  • The frequency range you are licensed to use, in MHz.
  • Quantity per site, and whether spares are included in that number.
  • Operating environment, if it is classified (hazardous area, mine, tunnel).
  • Whether the units must arrive programmed, and if so the channel plan.
  • Whether the fleet is being kept analog or staged towards digital.
  • Whether any requirement beyond group voice is already being met by something else, such as a spreadsheet or a phone.

Questions this collection raises

Selection FAQ

The questions that decide an order, including how to compare two equivalent-looking models.

Analog or digital DMR for a fleet?

Digital is not simply the newer analog. It changes what the radio can be asked to do — and it changes what happens when part of your fleet stays analog.

VHF or UHF for your site?

The general rule is well established: VHF travels further across open ground, UHF gets into and around structures. Your licence still decides — but the site tells you what to ask for.

Send the configuration, not just the model name

Band, destination and quantity decide whether a quotation is usable in one round or three. Compose the brief and it carries all three.
